TAMPA BAY SHOOTS

FEATURED INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS

This section of Tampa Bay Shoots is for the featured industry professionals whom work our events, past, present, and future.
Featured industry professionals, which include professional models whom work our events and are featured models, are permitted to market and promote themselves on our web sites, marketing, and at the events, another benefit of working our events, in addition to pay, although terms and limits apply (you would not be permitted to promote or market photography events which are in competition with Tampa Bay Shoots, for example. You also can’t give out advice which conflicts with what our events are about. Conflicts of interest must be avoided! The point of allowing our contractors to market themselves and what they do is supposed to be mutually beneficial for all parties involved, and are not supposed to undermine anyone or anything).
These featured industry professionals include, but are not limited to, photographers, graphic designers, make-up artists, stylists, and models, although professional models are such a constant at most of our events and workshops, that they get their own section on our web site (See our featured models section). In most of our events and workshops, clients, which primarily consist of aspiring and experienced photographers, pay to photograph our featured models, and those models get paid to work the events. Everyone benefits, too, as the photographers get good photographs from professional models for their photography portfolios, which is a one stop shop for accessing relevant, professional models so that they can quickly build a usable portfolio.
If you are an industry professional looking for a job at one of our events or workshops, please keep in mind that we are looking for WORKING industry professionals, or professionals whom have a HISTORY of booking work in their primary field, to work our events. We do not want “professionals”, such as “photographers”, whom can’t make a business out of what they are supposed to be doing, and whom only want to teach; we do not want “photographers” whom are only in business to “teach” other photographers, and your desire to teach must be balanced by professional qualifications and experience. We also do not want professionals teaching things which are useless or which are flawed on purpose, as we do not want our clients to be sold short in any way! Skills and knowledge are good, but we also require experience successfully doing what you teach in a career, and so do our clients. Our clients, in fact, demand it, because that is what they are paying for. Sure, this is a business, and we make money running this business, but we don’t, and won’t, make money at the expense of our clients, and neither will you. Making money is a benefit of giving our clients something that will actually benefit them and their careers, and it is not the priority over anything else. That said, professionals need to get paid for their work, so these events and workshops are not free to our clients, either, but they have value, and that is what is important. Everyone benefits!
Also keep in mind that we do not “hire” workers, and that you would not be an employee if you work our events. You are contracted as an independent contractor, and would be completely responsible for your business overhead, whatever that may be, including travel expenses and lodging, as well as withholding and paying taxes on your pay, and insurance, among other things. You would work with us, not for us, and you share in a percentage of what we make producing the events. That does NOT mean that you won;’t make money, however, and there is no point working our events if you do not make a profit doing so. After all, that is why you have a career to begin with!
If you are an industry professional who wishes to get involved with our events and workshops in the Tampa Bay area, check out our professionals section. Keep in mind, however, that the requirements and the evaluation process are like those described in our models section, so you may want to read that.
